This year’s lineup includes The Swamp Kings, Ron Yarosz & the Vehicle, Tony Monaco, and Janiva Magness.

As unemployment and underemployment continues to sweep the state, Ohio families and individuals, many of which are seniors and children, are finding themselves in the lines of food pantries and soup kitchens, many for the first time in their lives. Our area has been hit hard by unemployment and rising food and gas prices. Some people we work with have to make difficult decisions daily, for instance; should I pay the electric bill or buy groceries, should I put gas in the car to get to work or buy groceries, etc. Reality – the food bank’s distribution jumped from 3.2 million pounds in 2009 to 6 million pounds in 2010.

Thanks

Smoke FREE Units-City of Toledo

Last month, Maine became the first state in which all public housing authorities are smoke free. Come September, Boston will be the biggest city to prohibit smoking in its public housing. Detroit, San Antonio and Portland OR already have similar restrictions in place. Regardless of who your clients are, it’s in your best interest to make your units smoke-free. The regulations are largely a response to the understanding that eliminating secondhand smoke in all indoor spaces is the only way to fully protect nonsmoking adults and children.
